Receipts of interest paid on Loan Office debt, 1786-1791.

First volume has receipts #701-800 dating from 23 Oct to 4 Nov 1786 [for interest paid to 31 Dec 1784] and the second volume has receipts #101-200 dating from 6th June to 8th Aug 1788 for interest paid to 31 Dec 1786. The first two volumes concern interest payments received from Nathaniel Appleton, Continental Loan Officer, in the state of Massachusetts. Third volume has receipts #1400-1500 dating from 30 May 1791 to 15 June 1791 and the fourth volume has receipts #1801-1900 dating from 14 Sept 1791 to 1 Oct 1791. The receipts in the third and fourth volumes concern certificates of funded debt received from Nathaniel Appleton, Commissioner of Loans in the state of Massachusetts.

Nathaniel Appleton was the first commissioner of the Continental Loan Office for Massachusetts in Boston (later known as the Massachusetts Loan Office of the U.S. Bureau of the Public Debt).
